Michael Carrick is expected to remain as manager of Manchester United after the club decided against sacking him following internal crisis talks. The 45-year-old is set to lead the team in their upcoming match against Chelsea, according to reports. The decision comes after a series of meetings between club officials and Carrick, aimed at addressing concerns over his leadership and the team's performance.
Carrick spent over three hours at the club’s training ground during the talks, which took place behind closed doors. He arrived just before the Under-21s match against Hull City and left at 5pm. Club officials, including director of football Jason Wilcox and CEO Omar Berrada, were involved in the discussions. The meetings followed a recent defeat to Bournemouth, which intensified pressure on Carrick.
This is not the first time Carrick has faced scrutiny. Earlier in the week, midfielder Bruno Fernandes was seen at Carrington despite the team having a day off. The presence of key players during the talks suggests a desire for stability. Carrick’s future had been a topic of speculation, with some reports suggesting potential replacements. However, the club has opted to give him more time to improve results.
The situation highlights the ongoing challenges facing Manchester United under Carrick’s management. With the pressure mounting, the club’s decision to support him reflects a strategic move to maintain continuity. The upcoming match against Chelsea will be a crucial test of this decision.
