William Chapman, 23, was killed after entering a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster on Saturday. The incident occurred when he climbed into the tiger's pen, leading to a fatal mauling. His family described him as a "bright young man" and "dearly loved."
The attack took place around 1:30 pm during a visit to the wildlife park. Witnesses reported that Chapman entered the enclosure despite warnings. He was in his mid-20s and had been prescribed strong medication, according to family statements. The tiger responsible for the attack was not identified.
This is the second known incident involving a tiger at Yorkshire Wildlife Park this year. The park has faced scrutiny over safety measures following a similar attack in 2022. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the incident, including whether proper protocols were followed. The family has requested privacy as they mourn their loss.
