African Centre for the Study of Conflict and Security (ACF) has urged Nigerians to reject violence ahead of the 2027 elections. The apex northern socio-cultural organisation, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), issued a statement on Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, calling for peaceful political contests. ACF Chairman, Mamman Mike Osuman, SAN, warned that no political contest is worth the loss of a human life.

The call comes amid ongoing security challenges in the country. ACF highlighted the need for accountability from political leaders, noting that some of the painful conditions facing Nigerians are being exacerbated by those in positions of power. The organisation has previously urged Nigerians to demand transparency and responsibility from their leaders.

This is not the first time ACF has addressed political violence. In a separate statement, the organisation reiterated its stance against insecurity, linking it to governance failures. The 2027 elections are seen as a critical moment for political reform and stability. ACF’s message aligns with broader calls for improved governance and reduced violence in the country.
