A 20-year-old co-pilot was identified as the victim of a fatal Learjet crash in Florida. The Learjet 60, en route from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas, crashed in Palm Beach County on November 1, 2025. The co-pilot, Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, was among nine people on board.
Audio from the cockpit revealed the crew calling for emergency assistance. The co-pilot was heard screaming, “We’re out of time,” before the plane nosedived. Family members confirmed her identity after the crash. A chilling six-word text message sent to her boyfriend moments before the crash was also shared.
The aircraft, registered to a Delaware-based LLC, was operating under private charter. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash. No official cause has been released.
This is the second fatal crash involving a Learjet 60 in Florida this year. The aircraft had previously been involved in a crash in Miami in March 2025, resulting in three fatalities. Both incidents involved private charter flights.
The co-pilot, who earned her pilot’s licence at 17, had been flying for less than two years. Her family expressed grief over her loss, with one relative stating, “I knew the plane would take me away from her.”
The crash has raised questions about safety standards for private charter flights. Investigators are examining whether mechanical failure or human error played a role. No further details have been released.
