The UK government has launched an online calculator to help citizens assess how the recent Budget will impact their personal finances. The tool, developed by the Treasury, allows users to input their income, savings, and other financial details to determine whether they will benefit or face a financial loss from the measures announced by Chancellor John Healey.
The Budget, which was published on March 14, introduced a range of tax changes and welfare reforms aimed at reducing public spending. Key changes include a rise in the threshold for higher-rate tax, adjustments to the state pension, and modifications to the Universal Credit system. The calculator provides a breakdown of how these changes will affect different income brackets, offering a personalized estimate of the net gain or loss for each user.
This initiative follows a trend of increasing use of digital tools to communicate fiscal policy to the public. Previous Budgets have also included similar calculators, though this year’s version is the most detailed yet, incorporating real-time data and user feedback. The government has emphasized that the tool is designed to be accessible and easy to use, with clear explanations of each policy change. The calculator is available on the official Treasury website and is expected to remain active for several weeks to allow for continued public engagement.
