Chancellor John Healey announced £6 million in government funding to support the expansion of the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow during his Autumn Budget statement on October 28. The funding is part of broader economic measures outlined in the Budget, which also included changes to property ownership and minimum wage rates.
The Scottish Event Campus, located in Glasgow, will benefit from the financial boost to enhance its facilities and capacity. The investment aims to support the venue’s role in hosting major events and boosting local economic activity. The funding was confirmed as part of the Chancellor’s broader strategy to stimulate growth in key sectors.
This announcement follows a series of economic reforms introduced in the 2026 Budget, including the introduction of a First-Time Buyer ISA and the Your First Home Scheme. These measures were designed to help first-time property buyers enter the market. The Scottish Event Campus expansion aligns with the government’s focus on infrastructure and regional development.
The funding for the campus comes amid ongoing discussions about the UK’s economic strategy, including welfare reforms and minimum wage adjustments. The National Living Wage was increased by 3.9% in the same Budget, affecting around 2.3 million workers. The Scottish Event Campus expansion reflects the government’s commitment to supporting both cultural and economic initiatives in Scotland.
