A 23-year-old man was killed after entering a tiger enclosure at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, according to local media reports. The incident occurred on Saturday, October 10, when William Chapman, described by family members as a "warm and engaging young man," was attacked by a Siberian tiger named Altai. The tiger weighed approximately 30 stones.
William Chapman, in his mid-20s, was found dead inside the enclosure after reportedly entering it without supervision. His family has expressed deep sorrow, calling him a "bright" and "dearly loved" individual. The Yorkshire Wildlife Park is located near Doncaster. Authorities have not yet released further details about how the incident unfolded or whether any safety violations were involved.
This is the second reported tiger-related fatality at the park this year. In May, a 42-year-old man was killed by a tiger after entering an enclosure. The park has since implemented additional safety measures, though no official statement has been made regarding the current incident. The family of William Chapman has requested privacy as they mourn their loss.
