A 37-year-old Reform UK councillor, George Madgwick, has been charged with 35 offenses, including 12 counts of rape and two sexual assaults. The charges, brought by the Crown Prosecution Service, date back to 2008 and cover a period of over 13 years. Madgwick, who works at Hampshire County Council, is set to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on November 25.

The allegations include rape, sexual assault, and possession of child abuse images. The investigation, which began last year, involved four victims aged between 16 and 17 at the time of the incidents. The charges include actual bodily harm and other serious offenses. Madgwick has been granted bail pending his court appearance.

This case follows a broader scrutiny of public figures in the UK, with increasing calls for transparency and accountability. The charges highlight the long-standing nature of the alleged crimes, spanning more than a decade. The legal proceedings will determine the next steps in the case.
